It’s time to bring social capital into True Cost Accounting.

While methods and data for measuring natural and human capital in True Cost Accounting are relatively well-developed, social capital remains a relative blind spot. But accounting for the social costs and benefits of food systems is essential to increasing social equity and resilience.

So how can we better measure the social impacts of food systems?

The next True Cost Alliance Brown Bag Lunch brings together leading experts in the field to discuss current best practices and what is needed to advance social capital assessment. It will include:

• a presentation from TMG’s Gültaç Çınar on the method used to assess social impacts in the Plan'Eat Project
• contributions from TCA experts Pietro Galgani (True Price), Emilia Schmitt (University of Lausanne), and others on their own approach and experience with assessing social capital
• an open discussion with participants
