The new Green Office opened at Nuremberg Institute of Technology on April 30. This central hub will consolidate all sustainability and climate protection activities at the university, support student initiatives, offer workshops, and promote projects in the areas of teaching, research, infrastructure, transfer, and governance. At the opening, Dr. Carolin Lano moderated a panel discussion featuring four projects. One of these was "TrueMensa," a teaching and learning research project led by Prof. Dr. Tobias Gaugler, presented by Celina Ehrnsperger. The goal of the project is to use True Cost Accounting (TCA) to make the hidden environmental costs of meals visible. For this purpose, second price tags were introduced in the cafeteria at Keßlerplatz, which displayed the "true costs" of vegetarian, vegan, and omnivorous meals alongside their regular prices—with the aim of creating new awareness of the ecological consequences of different diets.
